Chocolate lovers have spotted a new KitKat flavour on the shelves. Fans of the brand noticed the latest KitKat Chunky variant, dubbed “Funky”, has started appearing in Sainsbury’s stores across the nation. The new sweet treat flavour is limited-edition and combines the beloved crispy cocoa wafer with a striking twist that involves an innovative marbled design, which blends creamy milk chocolate with white coating in decorative swirls.

The York-based development team behind this creation has maintained the signature KitKat crunch while welcoming an eye-catching feature that has surely piqued the interest of chocolate lovers. KitKat’s Assistant brand manager Rida Ahmed was optimistic about fans’ reactions as the new flavour was announced. She said: “It’s such a fun product, and we can’t wait to see how shoppers react!” She was spot on as fans of the “take a break” chocolate snacks blew up social media with their enthusiasm upon discovering it.

One excited shopper said: “They’ve actually been spotted in the wild. I’ll have to keep my eye out for ’em.”

Another added: “Looks good like a mixture of milk and white chocolate, by the looks of it.

“Honestly, I was expecting pistachios since everyone’s jumped on the train at the moment!”

The anticipation started growing as fans commented on the new flavour: “That looks absolutely gorgeous,” while others simply expressed their insatiable eagerness, stating: “I need to try this flavour,” and “Me please! Can’t wait.”

At the end of June, KitKat’s Rida said: “This year we’ve introduced some amazing new products with our eye-catching, marbled swirls thanks to the brilliant minds at our research and development centre in York.

“KitKat Chunky has a fresh look while keeping the delicious crispy wafer and KitKat chocolate that our fans adore.”

The confectionery giant has unveiled another indulgent creation alongside its new Funky variant. The excitement has increased tenfold as it has released the new Duo Salted Caramel bar, which is certain to elevate the traditional KitKat experience with a decadent layer of salted caramel nestled atop the signature wafer, all encased in smooth chocolate.
