Dishwashers were created with the purpose of washing everyday items such as plates, knives and forks, but there are some surprising items that can also be cleaned in the machines. Some items such as wooden spoons, chopping boards and insulated mugs or water bottles should never be placed inside due to wear and tear, but one TikTok user has shared some bizzare items that can be cleaned.

The cleaning and home creator, who posts under the handle @anna_louisa_at_home, posted a short video of seven things that can be put in the machine. The items included cleaning sponges, plastic kids toys, sillicone phone cases, vases and even extractor fan filters.

But the seventh item Anna put in the dishwasher was a hairbrush, which left other TikTok users baffled.

One user said: “Such a smart idea. can’t wait for my partner to open the dishwasher to random things.” Anna replied: “hahaha that will be the best reaction.”

Another user added added: “Omg hair brush?!!!! This is music to my ears!!!”

A fourth viewer called Anna a “genius” while a fourth said the video “blew her mind”.

One commenter was concerned by Anna’s video and asked “what about the hair?”, but Anna replied to make it clear that she had taken all the hair out beforehand.

Another commenter shared what they used the dishwasher for, they said: “You can put dirty crocs [in there], they come out new.”
