Six things we learned about Prince Harry at the Invictus Games | Royal | News

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might be keen for privacy – but that hasn’t stopped putting them from putting on a show at the Invictus Games in front of the cameras.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have made headlines around the world as they have had fun at the Paralympic-style competition to support ex service men and women hosted this year in Dusseldorf, Germany.

Harry has enjoyed his time throughout – and we’ve learnt some new things about the prince.

He likes beer

It is well known that Prince Harry enjoye a night out in his younger days, but his love of German beer only emerged this week on the eve of his 39th birthday on Thursday night.

Harry and Meghan let their hair down for Harry’s 39th birthday celebrations which began early.

Accompanied by their team, they headed out to a German brewery to mark the eve of his special day.

Harry reportedly drank six small glasses of theAlt Schumacher beer, after enjoying the success of the 2023 Invictus Games in Dusseldorf.

But sensible Meghan stuck to just the one pint.

He dad dances

Just a fortnight ago, we spotted Meghan enjoying a dance in the audience of a concert in LA – and this week it was her husband’s turn.

Prince Harry was caught on camera doing some dad dancing in the stands when he was joined by wife Meghan Markle for the fifth day of the action.

Both looked relaxed and casual as they watched Ukraine vs Nigeria in sitting volleyball.

He grabbed a man’s beard

Grabbing a member of the public’s facial hair is not something you’d usually associate with the Royal Family.

Prince Harry was praised as he playfully tugged on a Canadian fan’s huge beard as he made his first appearance at the Invictus Games in Dusseldorf, reports Metro.

Wearing a black Invictus polo shirt Harry could be seen greeting fans and cheering on contestants in the finals of the powerlifting and the wheelchair rugby, one of the most popular sports at the games.

He’s happy to offer his photography services

Harry clearly adores his wife Meghan.

And this can be seen when they’re interacting with fans too.

The Duke offered to take a snap of Meghan and one of the attendees – much to their astonishment when they realised who the kindly stranger was!

As Meghan bent down to smile for a selfie with the woman and her son, the Duke of Sussex approached the group, offering to snap the photo for them, reports The Independent.

Without realising who the man was in front of her, the mother offered her phone to Harry – and it was only when she looked up to make direct eye contact did she realise it was Harry who had volunteered to take their picture.

 He has princely tastes

He might come across as a more down to earth Royal – and he’s certainly no stranger living on more basic means during his time in the British Army.

But that doesn’t extend to his taste in hotels, apparently.

Harry and Meghan stayed at a lavish £2,000-a-night hotel in Dusseldorf, Germany, at an expansive suite on the 17th floor of the Hyatt Regency hotel.

They were understood to be staying in a stunning sky-high Presidential suite at the luxury hotel that offers stunning views across The Rhine.

JFK is one of his heroes

Harry took inspiration from a former American president as he opened the Invictus Games.

The Duke of Sussex took to the stage in Germany and did his own take on late American President John F. Kennedy’s famous speech saying “Ich bin ein Dusseldorfer”.

He made an attempt to channel the late American president’s famous speech where he declared “Ich bin ein Berliner”.

The Invictus Games ends tomorrow, Saturday, September 16.
