A teacher who spent three-and-a-half hours having sex with her 17-year-old student while her husband was away from home engaged in disturbing sexting with the teenager. McKenna Kindred, now 27, flirted with her teen student, then 17, in 2022. Newly released text messages show she flirted with him months before progressing the relationship to bed.

While her lawyer husband was on a hunting trip, Kindred slept with the boy at her home in Spokane, Washington, in November 2022. The two engaged in a three-and-a-half-hour-long sexual act, and afterwards took a shower and “hung out”.

Their perverted story began in June 2022, according to court documents. The boy told investigators that he started following Kindred on Instagram, and they began exchanging explicit messages. The messages were later uncovered by a friend of the teen who got into his Instagram account.

They discovered messages from Kindred that said: “I was sad when you had to leave my room.”

The teen told investigators he arrived at the Kindred household sometime between 6:30pm and 7pm, and that he and Kindred began kissing while watching a film. Later, they had sex on the couch, and then they moved into Kindred’s bedroom, where they continued until around 10pm that evening.

The teacher allegedly sent pictures of her breasts to the teenager, while he sent her explicit videos, the student’s mother said. The pair also exchanged messages around the same time they had sex.

The teen sent Kindred a message, saying, “Mom glad I can satisfy you.” Kindred liked the message, and the teen then asked if she had used a sex toy while thinking about him. “I did,” she replied.

He texted her saying “U should have video it and save it”, Kindred replied: “Hm next time I need to relearn Snapchat haha.”

Rumours about the relationship eventually began to spread around the school, and the boy’s friends shared screenshots of the messages with school officials in December 2022. 

Other texts from Kindred read: “I want you to be in my room,” or “I really like being touched by you.” 

Kindred was arrested and confessed to sexual misconduct with a minor and communication with a minor for immoral purposes in March 2024 as part of a plea deal. Her phone underwent a forensic examination after her arrest.

She avoided jail time, was sentenced to two years of probation and ordered to pay $700 (£500) in fines. The teacher was also ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for 10 years.

In court, the teacher wept: “I am truly sorry for my actions. I know that this past year has been enormously stressful for all involved.

“As a result of my actions I’ve lost my career, valuable friendships, freedoms and have let down countless people who placed their trust in me. My mental health has also been severely affected by this event. I am deeply ashamed of the pain I have caused,” she continued.

Kindred’s husband, Kyle, stuck by her despite her sex crimes. The couple moved out of their Liberty Lake apartment following Kindred’s arrest and lived at Kyle’s parents’ home in a rural village south of Spokane by the time the teacher was sentenced, court records show.

The couple then moved to Idaho, where they purchased a $498,000 (£360,000) home in June 2024.

It’s unclear whether the educator has worked since voluntarily surrendering her teaching license in response to an Idaho Standards Commission probe.
