Teenage murder victim lay dead in flat for ‘about eight days’ | UK | News

Police probe into the murder of a teen reveals he might have been abandoned in a Norwich flat for an appalling eight days before being discovered.

Officers descended upon the grim scene at Lefroy Road, Norwich, Norfolk, alerted at 10.40pm on Saturday, September 21 following reports of a stabbing incident. On arrival, they were met with the macabre sight of a man’s corpse bearing a single stab wound shockingly estimated to have been in the residence for nearly eight days. A police tent was swiftly erected behind the building as forensics delved deep into the case.

The deceased has been identified as a 19 year old Londoner whose family has now been plunged into mourning. Following a conclusive Home Office post-mortem on Monday, September 23, it was affirmed that a sinister stab wound to the chest snuffed out the young man’s life.

Detectives are furiously piecing together clues to pinpoint the culprits, dissecting every aspect of the events spiralling to the tragedy. They’ve hit the streets for answers, are scouring CCTV for missed moments, maximizing forensic leads, and joining forces with London’s Metropolitan Police.

Detective Inspector Dave McCormack disclosed: “This is a complex investigation, and we are working our way methodically through the evidence. The man’s body was in the flat for approximately eight days before police were alerted so we need to follow several lines of enquiry. There are no arrests at this time.

“Police would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious or has information about the incident. Detectives believe this is a drug-related incident and the suspects do not present a wider risk to the community and do not believe this is linked to the murder in Paragon Place earlier this month. We appreciate this is a distressing incident and there will be high-visibility police activity over the coming days in the area.”

Anyone with information, particularly leading up to the man’s body being discovered between 12 September and 21 September is asked to contact Norfolk Police via this link for the murder in Lefroy Road, website, phone 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, or via their online form.
