New York may be famous for its iconic skyline and towering skyscrapers, but turns out the Big Apple is not actually the city with the most tallest buildings in the world. Shenzhen ranks second, with 443 buildings over 492 feet, followed by New York with 317 skyscrapers with Dubai coming in fourth position with 265. Meanwhile, London sits in 44th place, with 40 buildings reaching over 492 feet .
The International Commerce Centre is Hong Kong’s tallest building and the 13th tallest building in the world.
The 118-story, 1,588-foot supertall skyscraper in West Kowloon, Hong Kong, houses some of the world’s most prominent financial institutions.
The city’s first skyscrapers appeared when the city was a British colony, and with the rapid population growth and limited space, this led to an increase in high-rise buildings.
As the population continued to rise, Hong Kong embraced vertical expansion, with iconic buildings like the 1362 feet tall Two International Finance Centre and the International Commerce Center.
