The stunning island with world-class beach, 34C May heat and 94p beer | Travel News | Travel

A holiday destination that boasts a world-class beach, warm weather, and cheap beer sounds like the ultimate getaway for many, and this gorgeous island in the Philippines has that all. Panay Island which reaches an average temperature of up to 34C in May is home to one of the world’s best beaches. According to TripAdvisor’s Travellers Choice Awards, the island’s White Beach is among the Best of the Best, rated a huge 4.4 out of five stars on the travel review website.

Speaking about White Beach, the travel company said: “Boracay’s most popular beach draws a crowd for good reasons: soft white sand, turquoise waters, and amazing sunsets. It’s a great place to swim and snorkel, and when you’ve worked up an appetite, lots of local dining and drinking joints are just steps away.”

And you won’t have to fork out much when popping into one of the local spots for a drink, with a pint setting people back only 94p and a three-course meal for two people in the Philippines averages out to just £16.

Those who have visited White Beach agree that the sandy stretch has earned its impressive title. One visitor said: “Still the island paradise and no wonder that it is one of the best beaches in the world.

“The crystal clear water and pure powdery white sand stretching to approximately 3 km makes it an ideal to explore the island from end to end. It has a variety of restaurants, local shops and food spots to just stay, lie down and rejuvenate. Lots of activities from sun up to sun down.”

Another who visited earlier into the year said: “Amazing and beautiful beach, lovely soft sand, warm sea, even in January. Nice local shops. I have been to many beaches all over the world and this is one of the best. Definitely worth a visit to this one. Great for swimming getting some sun or just chilling out.”

Beyond the gorgeous beach, the island has cultural and historical sites including the Jaro Cathedral, a Romansque Revival structure that was founded in 1587. Island hopping to nearby spots including Maraison Island, Guimaras, and Lakawon Island, is also easy from Panay.

For history lovers, the island is also home to Aklan, considered to be the oldest province in the Philippines. With plenty of locals who work as tour guides, Aklan provides the perfect opporunity for travellers to learn all about the island’s heritage, while taking in all of its beauty.
