The underrated European city with £2.20 pints | Travel News | Travel

If you’re looking for a holiday destination that won’t be packed with crowds this summer, there’s one place that should be on your list. With summer just around the corner and the start of the holiday season set to begin, there’s no better time to pick a place to enjoy a break this year.

Instead of looking towards the overcrowded cities in Europe or the more popular destinations, picking somewhere a little more off the beaten track could leave you with an exciting destination. Brasov, Romania, has been called an “underrated” destination on a travel blog called Wanderlust Storytellers. It’s a holiday spot that’s affordable for visitors, with a pint costing just 13 Romanian leu, which equates to £2.20.

A person who visited the city on Tripadvisor said: “I walked around the city for around two hours without break and enjoyed the colourful and historical houses all over the place totally.

“There are less hectic people here and a more chilled vibe – there’s also nice cafes and restaurants everywhere around each corner.”

If you’re planning a trip, for incredible views of the city, while you’re there, you should take a trip on the Tampa Cable Car. The activity provides the perfect opportunity to see the city from above.

On TripAdvisor, one person said the cable car is “well worth a visit” and that the view is “magnificent”.

Or, if you’re looking for a challenge, you can hike the route up to the top to take in the views.

Another must-see spot is Black Church, which is a Gothic cathedral built in the 14th century. In 1689, it survived a huge fire, which makes its exterior look darker today.

You should also make sure to wander through Council Square, which is the heart of Brașov’s Old Town.

The easiest way to get to Brasov is to fly to Bucharest and go there by bus, car, or train.

There are plenty of transport services that will pick you up at the airport and drop you at your hotel, all for around 20-25 euros one way.

If you’re looking for a unique holiday destination, Brasov could be the place for you this summer.
