Thieves launch £500k gold heist after breaking in through bathroom | UK | News

The Metropolitan Police are appealing for information after brazen thieves broke in through a bathroom window while the property’s owners were at home and stole £500,000 worth of gold jewellery.

Police have released images of the stolen items in the hope that they will lead to developments in their investigation. The jewellery was stolen from a house in Bickley Road in Bromley, southeast London, on the evening of December 30, 2024. Footage shows three men entering the property through a forced bathroom window at 5.40pm before leaving at 6.25pm, carrying out the theft while the owners were home.

Detectives are keen to trace the stolen property in the hope of returning it to the owners, and are asking the public to come forward if they recognise any of the pieces.

Det Con Jamie White, of the Met’s South Area Command Unit, said: “While the monetary value of this theft is enormous, the sentimental value is priceless – with many of the pieces being passed down through generations of the family.

“Helpfully, a number of the pieces stolen are unique, so we are hoping that releasing these photographs will jog someone’s memory.

“If you have seen these items anywhere – or know of anyone handling the goods – please do get in touch with the Met via 101, quoting 01/1257889/24.”

If you have information and wish to stay anonymous, you can speak to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

No arrests have been made at this stage.
