Tiger Woods involved in terrifying car crash in Florida as car flipped | Golf | Sport
Tiger Woods was involved in a car crash in Florida in which the vehicle flipped over. The Martin County Sheriff’s Office said that the golf superstar was involved in the incident in Jupiter Island, with Woods’ condition not immediately clear.
The crash occurred within the town Woods calls home just after 2pm with a car left lying on the driver’s side. The collision involved two cars and Woods’s Genesis GV80 crashed into a tree, flipping onto its side.
Local officials in Martin County reported that Woods was not showing signs of driving while impaired.
The 15-time major champion had been on the comeback trail after undergoing back surgery in October. Woods had also ruptured his Achilles in March 2025.
The legend of the sport had surgery to deal with “open fractures” to his lower right leg, and had a rod placed in a tibia, with his foot and ankle requiring screws and pins following an emergency surgery.
Speaking last month, Woods had said that making a return to the Masters was not off the table. The 50-year-old has not played a competitive round on the PGA Tour since July 2024.
“It [the body] doesn’t recover like it did when it was 24, 25. It doesn’t mean I’m not trying [to return]. I’ve been trying for a while. I’ve had a couple bad injuries here over the past years that I’ve had to fight through and it’s taken some time.
“I keep trying. I want to play. I love the tournament. I’ve loved being there since I was 19 years old. It’s meant a lot to me and my family over the years. I’m going to be there either way with The Loop that’s going up there, as well as the Champions Dinner.”
“I don’t know, we’ll see how it goes,” he added. “I’ll be practicing, playing at home this week and keep trying to make progress.”
