Three people have been injured in a horror shooting in Times Square, New York City. At around 1.20am local time (6.20 BST), panicked crowds were seen fleeing from the popular tourist spot in Manhattan as huge police presence descended on the scene between West 44th Street and 7th Avenue.

A police spokesperson has said that the violence erupted after a “verbal dispute between two people escalated”. A 65-year-old man and a 19-year-old man suffered gunshot wounds, while an 18-year-old woman was rushed to hospital with a wound to her neck. A suspect has also been arrested at the scene, police confirmed.
