Tomorrow’s ARC Raiders patch will make big changes to this grenade typ | Gaming | Entertainment
Embark Studios, the team behind popular extraction shooter ARC Raiders, has revealed that a particular grenade is getting some huge changes in a balance patch arriving on January 13.
Since the game launched, Trigger Nades quickly became a bit of a nuisance for those involved in the PvP aspect of the game. While they’re capable of dealing great damage against ARC robots, they’re also particularly lethal against other players, and often don’t require a huge amount of skill to wield.
In ARC Raiders, Trigger Nades act almost like C4. Once thrown out, they stick to the surface they land on and can be detonated remotely.
However, Embark clearly thinks that the grenades are a little too powerful at the moment with the damage dealt to human players a little out of proportion compared to the rest of the game’s arsenal. Often, these grenades can end a PvP fight before it even begins.
Speaking to GamesRadar+, Virgil Watkins of Embark Studios said: “”In the update on Tuesday, we’re mitigating the Kettle issue, we’re dealing with Trigger Nades, and then, of course, we’re looking at kind of shuffling, as we keep going with some of the balancing.”
As for exactly how the grenade will be changing, it sounds like both the damage curve and detonation timings will be getting some tweaks. “”You have to be a lot more exact to get the full damage,” Watkins says.
He also goes on to clarify that players will no longer be able to detonate Trigger Nades immediately after they leave your hand. Instead, players will need to wait a little while longer before setting off the explosion, giving enemy players more time to react.
The news will no doubt be music to the ears of plenty of ARC Raiders fans – especially those who’ve fallen victim to enemy players more often than they’d like. While the game does have a PvP element, the main aim is to take down and loot the roaming ARC robots, which has caused some differing opinions among the game’s community.
Plenty more changes to the balancing of ARC Raiders will no doubt follow in the January 13 balance patch. While we don’t have the full patch notes just yet, we’ll have more news on that front when they drop tomorrow.
For now, though, it might be worth using all the Trigger Nades you have left while they’re still overpowered.
