Tourists say underrated European city with new £17 flight from UK is ‘hidden gem’ | Travel News | Travel

There is a new flight route connecting a UK airport to an underrated European city – with plenty for tourists to experience. Ryanair has launched a new route from John Lennon Airport in Liverpool to Turin, Italy. The route will operate once per week, adding to what Ryanair is calling its “robust UK Winter 2025 schedule”.

Turn is a city known for its classic architecture, art, history and food. The city has been well-reviewed by those who have visited it before, and more Brits will now have the chance to experience it with Ryanair’s new route. Ryanair is currently offering fares from Liverpool to Turin for £16.99 in January.

Head of PR and communications at Liverpool John Lennon Airport, Robin Tudor, said: “It’s over 25 years since we last had flights to Turin from Liverpool so it’s great to see the return of a route that will be particularly popular with skiers looking to fly from the Northwest’s faster, easier, friendlier airport, when heading for some winter sports in the Italian Alps.”

The flight time from Liverpool to Turin is around 2 hours and 15 minutes, making it a great option for a quick getaway from the UK. Turin is packed full of tourist attractions, including the Museo Egizio, the city’s top-rated thing to do on TripAdvisor.

This museum is dedicated to Ancient Egyptian art and culture, and has seriously impressed tourists from around the world. One reviewer said of this attraction: “Definitely worth a visit. Very large collection. Keep in mind that you will need at least 3 hours to see everything.”

Other attractions in the city include the Royal Palace of Turin, Juventus Stadium, the National Museum of Cinema and the charming Piazza Castello. Additionally, you’ll experience some great food in the city’s many restaurants.

If you want to try the very best cuisine here, you can go on a dedicated food tour of the city, of which there are many available to book. You can also book onto a winery tour, which many people view as an essential experience when visiting Italy.

Social media users have shared their thoughts on Turin overall, with an overwhelming amount of positive reviews. One TripAdvisor user wrote of their time there: “Turin is truly a hidden gem.”

Meanwhile, a Reddit user shared: “Turin and Ravenna (with a nod at Bologna) are among my favourite under-visited places in Italy. Hopefully, we can keep it that way.”

“Turin is an absolute gem,” said another. “Amazing and lively parks, nice hiking and recreation, beautiful architecture, and an extremely high quality of life. I spent about 8 days there and had an absolutely amazing time. Would choose it over Milano any day of the week.”

Ryanair’s flight between Liverpool and Turin runs weekly on Saturdays.
