Tragedy in Tamworth as OAP dies after being ‘found under vehicle’ | UK | News
A tragic OAP died after she was discovered “trapped under a vehicle” at a house in Staffordshire in the West Midlands earlier today.
Emergency services raced to the scene on Bowling Green Avenue, in Wilnecote, Tamworth, shortly before 11am on Tuesday morning.
Police, ambulance and fire crews rushed to the address and discovered the pensioner trapped beneath a vehicle.
She was pronounced dead at the scene shortly later despite the efforts of emergency services.
The victim’s identity has not yet been made public, while police say enquiries into the horrific incident are “ongoing”.
Staffordshire Police confirmed a cordon had been erected while officers now worked to uncover how the pensioner died.
A spokesperson for the force said: “We have put a cordon in place following the death of a woman in Tamworth today (Tuesday 17 September).
“We were called by colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service to a property on Bowling Green Avenue,
“Officers went to the scene alongside colleagues from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service and found an elderly woman trapped under a vehicle.
“Sadly, despite the best efforts of emergency services, the woman died at the scene.
“Officers set up a cordon around the address and have been speaking to nearby residents to find out more about what happened. Enquiries are ongoing.”
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called to reports of a patient who was trapped underneath a vehicle on Bowling Green Avenue at 10.49am.
“Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance attended the scene.
“On arrival we discovered one patient, a woman, who was in a critical condition.
“Ambulance staff immediately began administering advanced life support but sadly, despite their best efforts it became apparent nothing could be done to save her and she was confirmed dead at the scene.”
