Travel chaos as LNER services down following ‘multiple disruptive incidents’ | UK | News

LNER has announced that multiple services are being affected on Sunday due to “disruptive incidents” on the lines. Trains between York and Leeds are affected in both directions due to a landslip, and a broken rail is disrupting southbound services between York and Doncaster.

Services running on these lines will be delayed, altered, or cancelled at the last minute, the train line said. It warned that disruptions are expected to last until the end of the day. LNER added: “A landslip in the Wakefield Westgate area means some lines are blocked. As a result, trains through this station may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes, diverted or revised.

“Major disruption is expected until the end of the day.”

In the second announcement it said: “A broken rail between York and Doncaster / Sheffield means the southbound line is blocked.

“Trains running between these stations may be cancelled, revised or diverted. Disruption is expected until 18:00.”

Rail replacement services will operate between Doncaster and Leeds via Wakefield Westgate, and between Leeds and York. Some services from Doncaster to Leeds with an additional stop at York are being diverted via Castleford.
