Trump under fire for ‘disgusting’ Rob Reiner ’cause of death’ rant | World | News
Donald Trump has provoked a furious backlash from Hollywood and political opponents alike after his Truth Social post on Robert Reiner’s death. The legendary 78-year-old actor and director was found dead with his 68-year-old wife Michele at their Brentwood home in Los Angeles on Sunday.
Their 32-year-old son Nick has since been arrested and is currently in police custody, as officers continue to investigate the deaths. Tributes poured in from major figures in both Hollywood and politics, after the shocking news became public, including from the US President. However, Trump’s remarks have provoked a storm of anger and protest, after he appeared to suggest Reiner died because of his dislike of him.
The US President described the director as “tortured and struggling”, before claiming he died “due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind-crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME”.
Trump then went on to praise his own accomplishments, asserting that Reiner’s alleged “raging obsession” and “obvious paranoia” toward him stood in contrast to his administration.
The post ignited a furious backlash, as celebrities and the public took to social media to vent their anger at the cruel post.
CALL TO ACTIVISM posted: “Trump writes a disgusting truth social post that all but celebrates Rob Reiner’s murder. Donald Trump truly is the WORST of us and the biggest piece of s*** on planet Earth.”
US senator Chris Murphy, a Connecticut Democrat, said: “He’s just lost it. Now saying Rob and Michele Reiner caused their own murder because they didn’t support him. So sick.”
Meanwhile, the actor Josh Grad posted: “There is no low that is too low for this f***ing psychopath.
“Rob Reiner was 1000 times the man you are and unlike you, he actually cared about the American people.
“Go paint your hand on your gold f***ing toilet and destroy things like the White House. That’s what you do best.”
Mia Farrow added: “Rob Reiner will always be remembered for the truly wonderful films he gave us, and for his kindness and warmth, his humor, his love for his country.
“Trump will be remembered for his greed, selfishness, corruption, cruelty, his vengeance & for trying to destroy the best of America.”
