Two teens charged after man ‘stabbed with a machete’ | World | News

New South Wales (NSW) Police said emergency services were called to an intersection in Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia at about 9.15pm Friday, February 27 after reports of a stabbing. Officers found a 54-year-old man with stab wounds to his upper body.

He was treated by police until NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived. He was then taken to hospital “in a serious but stable condition,” the force said.

Police were told the man was involved in an argument with a boy on an e-bike. The argument then escalated into a physical confrontation.

The boy allegedly fled the scene and returned with another boy who was believed to have been armed with a knife. The pair are alleged to have assaulted the man again before leaving.

At about 9.40pm, two boys, aged 15 and 17, were arrested in the area and taken to a police station.

The 15-year-old boy was charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company of others, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit, common assault, stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm, two counts supply prohibited drug, deal with property proceeds of crime, goods suspected stolen in/on premises and breach of bail.

The 17-year-old boy was charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company of others, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit and breach of bail.

The pair were refused bail.

They will appear before Parramatta Bail Division Court on Saturday, February 28.
