Ukraine makes huge breakthrough as troops ‘push back’ Putin’s thugs | World | News

Ukraine claims to have made a major breakthrough after pushing back Russian troops in a key occupied territory following a huge assault.

Kyiv’s commanders claims Putin’s thugs along the Dnipro river’s left bank have been shoved back as much as five miles, allowing to establish a bridgehead on the major strategic zone.

Operational Command South spokesperson Natalia Humeniuk told the media on Sunday: “Tentatively, the distance varies from 3 to 8 kilometers, depending on the specifics of geography and landscape across the left bank.”

The Kyiv Post reports that the spokesperson added: “Now their mortars can’t hit the right bank, so we see it as a certain achievement.”

But there are still believed to be tens of thousands of still in the area, so the victory is by no means decisive.

One of Zelensky’s top aides also anonymously briefed the press on the true situation in Ukraine, simply saying: “We’re not moving forward.”

The aide told Time Magazine: “[Ukrainian commanders] just want to sit in the trenches and hold the line. But we can’t win a war that way.”

They also complained that some areas of Ukraine‘s frontline did not have enough troops to capitalise on all the aide sent from the West.
