Families looking for a quick getaway during the half-term holidays do not have to spend thousands, or even hundreds, to have a pleasant break.
The booking company Holiday Pirates noted that there are many locations across the UK where visitors can have a short break for no more than £100.
One of the locations mentioned by the company is the Peak District, stretching from Derbyshire to South Yorkshire.
With plenty of open space, it is the ideal location for active families who enjoy going on walks for fresh air and beautiful scenery.
The Peak District is also home to many picturesque towns and villages, such as Ashford-in-the-Water, Bakewell and Edale.
Holiday Pirates suggested that families still wanting to stay close to a built-up area should take a trip to Liverpool, widely regarded as one of the cheapest city breaks in the country.
Liverpool is perhaps best known for being the birthplace of The Beatles, along with a whole host of other Merseybeat pop groups of the 1960s, which is celebrated at The Beatles Story and The Cavern Club.
However, visitors can have fun in Liverpool without spending a penny simply by taking a trip to the scenic Royal Albert Dock or Merseyside Maritime Museum.
One of the most popular holiday destinations in the UK is Cornwall, which Holiday Pirates notes is for very good reason thanks to its beautiful beaches.
Whilst the weather is less than ideal at this time of the year, many still enjoy braving the weather to spend some time by the sea.
However, Cornwall has plenty to do in all weather, such as taking a trip to Truro Cathedral or the Falmouth Art Gallery.
Finally, the company recommended there is plenty of activities and venues to visit in Cardiff without breaking the bank.
The capital of Wales has something for all visitors, with many recommending that history enthusiasts go to St Fagans National Museum of History and the National Museum of Cardiff for free.
There are also plenty of green spaces across the city, such as Roath Park and Bute Park, and areas on the coast like Mermaid Quay.
