As the weather promises to get warmer, we start to think about trips to the beach. There’s nothing better than hearing the crash of the waves and feeling sand beneath your toes – but how can you choose where to go with so many fabulous places across the UK?
For the perfect spring beach trip, you want as much sunshine as possible, with warm weather and no rain – and that’s where the experts at Go Outdoors can help. They have compiled a list of the top beaches in the UK based on average spring temperatures, rainfall, sunshine hours and Google reviews to reveal the best of the best. Each beach on this list received a score out of 10 based on its weather, rainfall and reviews.
Coming in first place is Cuckmere Haven with a score of 9.60. This stunning beach is located in East Sussex and has a whopping 7.8 hours of daily spring sunshine with just 52mm of rainfall per month.
Visitors to the beach can first enjoy a stunning view of the Seven Sisters – England’s iconic white cliffs that look out over the channel – and then take a scenic walk along the Cuckmere River which meanders towards the sea. Listen to the call of gulls overhead, and enjoy the brisk sea air on your face.
In second place is Southwold Beach with a score of 8.68 out of 10. This stretch of sand reaches from the mouth of the River Blyth, past the Southwold Pier which has plenty to explore. There’s arcade games and plenty of cafes and restaurants to stop in at for a snack or a drink.
Coming in third, and with the highest Google review rating of all the beaches, is Druridge Bay Beach. Google reviews rank this beach as a 4.9 out of five, and the Go Outdoors research gave it an overall rating of 8.53 out of 10.
The beach itself stretches for seven miles, and the nearby woodlands are packed with wildlife like roe deer and red squirrels.
