Urgent recall issued for children’s treat as customers warned ‘do not eat’ | UK | News
A popular ice cream is being withdrawn from sale and recalled amid fears that potentially dangerous ingredients are not listed on its labels. Wall’s Mini Milk Vanilla Strawberry & Chocolate Ice Cream Lollies contain milk, soya, pistachios and peanuts, all of which can be dangerous to those with serious allergies. However, the presence of the ingredients are not declared on their labels prompting a “DO NOT EAT” warning from the Food Standards Agency (FSA).
In a statement the FSA said: “Unilever UK recalls Wall’s Mini Milk Vanilla Strawberry & Chocolate Ice Cream Lollies because they contain milk and may contain nuts (pistachios), peanuts and soya which are not mentioned in English on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents and/or an allergy to nuts (pistachios) and/or an allergy to peanuts and/or soya.”
Ice creams such as the mini milk lollies, which come in packs of 10, are likely to be well consumed across the country as the nation sizzles in warm weather.
According to the Met Office, temperatures will increase further today, potentially as high as 35C, with the peak of the heat expected on Tuesday in the south east of England.
The warning relates to items with batch codes L5123, L5126, L5127, L5128, L5129, L5141, and L5142 and a best-before date of May 2027.
The statement added: “Unilever is recalling the above product and has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations.
“Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling this product. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.
“If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents and/or an allergy to nuts (pistachios) and/or an allergy to peanuts and/or soya, do not eat it.
