US Iran LIVE: US-Israeli joint airstrikes launched on Tehran | World | News

The United States and Israel have launched joint airstrikes on Iran’s capital, just days after he warned Tehran “bad things” would happen should the regime not agree on a nuclear deal.

Speaking on February 19 at the first official meeting of the Board of Peace, Mr Trump said the world had “probably 10 days” to find out whether Washington would reach a deal with Iran or launch an attack.

Over the past several weeks, the US President has warned Iran multiple times it was facing the US military wrath. Following the eruption of protests across the Middle Eastern country – and the violent police crackdown that followed – Mr Trump told protesters to stay strong as help was on its way. He also warned Tehran against executing protesters. Over the weeks, however, the US President has shifted his focus on whether Washington can reach a nuclear deal with Tehran.

While Iranian and US officials have met for talks on a possible deal, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamanei appeared defiant in the face of Mr Trump’s threat. After the US President announced to have sent an “armada” towards, Iran, Ayatollah Khamenei said: “The US President constantly says that the US has sent a warship toward Iran. Of course, a warship is a dangerous piece of military hardware. However, more dangerous than that warship is the weapon that can send that warship to the bottom of the sea.”
