Viral 10p beach hack to keep sand off your towel | UK | News

Sand at the beach is a love-hate relationship for many Brits – you’re either happily building sandcastles or furiously brushing off every grain on your skin. As Brits prepare to jet off on their summer holidays, one viral hack to keep sand off of your towel and out of your shoes has proven a hit with holidaymakers.

Google searches for “beach hacks” have skyrocketed by 370% in the past month, highlighting the need to make a trip to the beach more relaxing. Holiday experts at Travel Republic have gathered the most popular tricks that Brits are doing to keep the sand at bay this summer. One of the most popular hacks costs as little as 10p – a plastic bag.

For those irritated by sand getting on your towel and having to shake it off every time you stand up, creating a DIY beach foot spa with a carrier bag may help the issue.

Filling a carrier bag, which can be found at your local supermarket for as little as 10p, with sea water and carrying it back to your sunbathing spot allows you to dip your feet in for a quick rinse before stepping onto your towel.

This is also a great hack to use before leaving the beach and avoiding getting sand in your shoes, which can often feel like walking on sandpaper.

For those without a bag, a beach bucket or even a food cooler lid can work just as well for rinsing off sandy feet.

Another popular beach hack is to bury the corners of your towel to stop it from blowing away on a windy day. This simple hack holds your towel firmly in place, stops it from flipping in the breeze, and keeps it sand-free.

Travel Republic also suggests another sand-free hack of covering your charging port with plasters.

Sand gets everywhere, especially in your phone’s charging port and speakers while using it at the beach.

One simple fix is to cover them up with a basic plaster. This acts like a barrier so you can scroll, snap, and text away without fear of a sandy tech disaster.
