Winter sun holiday spot surrounded by sandy beaches with 20C November weather | Travel News | Travel

If the chillier climate and shorter daylight hours are getting you down, perhaps it’s time to consider a holiday.

For those yearning for a dose of Vitamin D, this popular European destination could be just the ticket, boasting temperatures of 20C even in November.

Portugal’s Algarve is a stunning region renowned for its breathtaking beaches and exquisite vineyards.

It’s also known for iconic locations such as Praia da Marinha, Praia da Rocha, and Praia de Benagil.

“Praia”, the Portuguese word for beach, encapsulates these coastal havens that provide everything you could desire from a sun-soaked autumn retreat, including pristine white sands, awe-inspiring rock formations and refreshing seaside cocktails.

Moreover, it has the advantage of being one of Europe’s more affordable holiday destinations.

Earlier this year, The Post Office named the Algarve as Europe’s most cost-effective holiday spot and the fifth cheapest globally, reports the Mirror.

According to The Post Office Travel Money, you can expect to pay a mere £1.76 on average for a glass of wine – a significant saving compared to what you’d fork out for a serving of red or white back in the UK.

After a day spent basking in the sun and exploring, why not indulge in some local cuisine at one of the many restaurants dotted along the coastline?

Local delicacies include grilled sardines, cataplana (a seafood stew), and pasteis de nata, the delightful custard tarts that have been growing in popularity in the UK over recent years.

Pair it with an affordable glass of invigorating Vinho Verde or a hearty red from the Douro.

Flights to the Algarve depart daily from various UK airports and are more affordable during the off-peak season. A round trip from London costs as little as £80.

At present, Ryanair is offering flights from London to Faro for a mere £28 each way, while easyJet has flights available for £32.
