Wizz Air has launched new routes to a beautiful island that offers blistering rays and crystal-clear blue waters, with flights starting from as little as £45.99.

Amid the gloomy British weather, many of us are dreaming of a sun-soaked getaway, so it comes at no better time to hear that Wizz Air has added more routes to the iconic island of Santorini, in Greece. The stunning destination has long been a favourite among holidaymakers seeking a serene escape among its whitewashed and blue-domed cliffside villages.

The new Wizz Air route from London Gatwick to Santorini will officially start from 1 July 2026, as it expands its connections to Greece ahead of peak summer travel. The new service, which will allow Brits to be more flexible with their summer getaway plans, will operate twice weekly on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Direct flights start from just £45.99 one-way, making it even easier to book that serene escape during the summer holidays without the hefty price tag. Santorini has plenty to offer travellers, with its dramatic cliffside views, black volcanic sand beaches and some of the most incredible golden sunsets.

Visitors can wander along the cobbled paths lined with whitewashed buildings draped in pink bougainvillaea flowers for a picture-postcard scene from Mamma Mia! Thanks to its striking location atop volcanic cliffs, there is a range of hikes to marvel at the island’s unique allure, including along the Fira-Oia trail.

Elsewhere, travellers can explore the ancient ruins at Akrotiri, take a boat trip along the torquises waters, before a dip in Santorini’s hot springs, and sample the local grapes during a wine tasting at a local vineyard. Plus, there’s an extensive list of charming restaurants, vibrant bars and traditional cafes to sample the flavours of Greece, from Gyros to Horiatiki.

The launch of the new Wizz Air route to Santorini comes as the airline continues to expand its connections from the UK to Greece. Wizz Air also confirmed additional flights to Chania, Corfu, Mykonos, Rhodes and Zakynthos will launch this summer.
