A woman is in a serious condition in hospital after reportedly being doused in petrol and set on fire at her home in Dublin. The attack took place this morning (November 25) after the woman opened her front door in Oak Downs, Clondalkin.

A traumatised witness told the Irish Mirror how she looked out of her window after hearing the screams of the woman in the street. It is understood that gardai are investigating the incident as a targeted attack, with reports suggesting that the woman was sprayed with some form of accelerant before being set alight. She was rushed to hospital to be treated for “burn injuries which are believed to be serious”.  A second man, believed to be the woman’s partner, was also taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries that are believed to be non-life-threatening.

It is believed that his injuries were sustained whilst coming to the woman’s aid and attempting to put out the flames.

The woman remains in Tallaght Hospital where she is being treated for her injuries.
