Hurry, this ‘limited time’ Google Pixel deal won’t last long

The Pixel 7a is the latest mid-range smartphone from Google, the maker of Android. It’s a cracking handset that Express.co.uk’s technology editor Dave Snelling awarded four stars to, calling it “a stellar smartphone, that we can highly recommend”. That was based on its RRP of £449, but currently you can pick up the Pixel 7a for just £329, a full £120 off what it usually goes for.

For that price, Amazon will also throw in a 30W charger free of charge – you’ll need that, as the phone comes with only a cable in the box, a frustrating trend in modern smartphone sales as companies try to save on e-waste and their own shipping costs.

You might want to hurry on this deal. Even though we’ve seen the phone for this price before, it’s listed on Amazon as a ‘limited time deal’ and there’s no indication of when it ends. At the time of writing, you can choose between a black, white or blue Pixel 7a.

Though Google also sells the excellent Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, those phones are considerably more expensive than the Pixel 7a, selling for £699 and £999. At £329 in this sale, the Pixel 7a looks like an absolute steal, as it doesn’t miss out on too many features from the pricier Pixel 8 pair.

In fact, in a January video posted on YouTube by phenomenally popular tech reviewer Marques Brownlee, the Pixel 7a came out on top in a blind smartphone camera test. When the public voted on images taken by 20 popular handsets without knowing which phones took which photos, the Pixel 7a won – beating not only the more expensive Pixels but the latest iPhone 15 Pro Max, and phones from OnePlus, Samsung, and Sony.

That’s an impressive feat. The main camera on the Pixel 7a takes stunning images thanks to Google’s clever camera software processing – it means it can outperform more expensive phones with technically better specs. It has 128GB of storage and even wireless charging, a feature normally held back for more premium devices.

As this is a Google phone, the Pixel 7a also has attractive, clean, minimal software with none of the unwanted apps and bloatware that can come with other Android phones. You’ll also benefit from Pixel-only features such as automatic call screening and a free VPN, and get software updates until 2028, keeping your phone fully up to date.
